WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR

Well, as most of my readers will know. I am a broke college student. And finding things to do that are cheap is very hard to find. Well this weekend i got off and there is a Auto Show in OKC Fairgrounds that I wanted to go too. Like most college students i live cheap. And tickets re pulling 10 bucks a pop. Well just so happens my bud Autumn Circle just had a few tickets to give me. Check her out at www.autumnsmusicalmusings@blogspot.com. Thanks to her you will see me get a lot of material to write about after this weekend!

TRUCKS TRUCKS AND MORE TRUCKS...

The American Pickup.
Now, before I start this I'm talking about full size trucks.
Not the Chevy El Comino
.
Or the ford Ranchero.

Or Pontiac's bombshell the G8 ST.
I'll get to these classics on another post.

I'm strictly talking about the Chevy Silverado 1500.
The Ford F150.
And the Ram 1500. (Yeah they separated from Dodge, now they are their own brand.)
The original American trio.
Now for the whole start of the pickup truck we can give the award to Mr. Henry Ford.
The founder of Ford Motor Company and the inventor of the assembly line.
Because of this invention he could mass produce cars at a good accelerated rate plus offering them at a more reasonable price.
But, that's a story for another post.
Lets get into his invention.
The Ford Model-T.
This vehicle debuted in 1925.
It was a simple design.
And when i say simple, it was basically it had a cab, a bed, four wheels a steering wheel, transmission, and motor.
Of course it had breaks and headlights.
But lets remember it didn't have the luxury that we take advantage of that we have today.
No heat, no a/c.
Sounds just miserable.
But, unlike today, people were tough.
But, as time went on improvements were made.
Competition started to stack up.
Hudson, Dodge and Chevy started arising from the mists.
As the years went by the automotive companies started making adjustments to their vehicles.
We started getting past the straight 6 motors and off the carbanation and into fuel injections and other many differnt types and designed of fuel injections in the late 1980's.

A Journey Northbound, Homebound

This past weekend I went home to do a interview for one of my classes.
Blackwell, Oklahoma.
You just don't realize how well you are known till you leave your home town for a little while.
I went to two separate bars around my place of growing up and was surprised.
I sat down at the bar and ordered a beer.
Of course the people around the bar would look at me as not a regular and a new face.
For when I left my home town i didn't look like how i look now.
A drunk sitting at the bar looks at me and says, "You're not from around here are you?"
I said, "Well, I grew up here." He looked at me like he just discovered the city of Atlantis. And asked for my name.
I told him my name and he started naming off all my family members and what all they are doing now. Then the bartender knew my grandmother and asked how I was doing and what i am doing now.
It was kinda nice to just go home and have a reminder of where i come from.
Always look ahead and the past is just a memory behind you.

Dr. Kurt Hochenauer

He came to the class today and helped a lot with starting to try to get my blog out there in the public eye.
Like trying to get traffic i need to try to blog at least several times a day so i will have to stop putting off some blogs that iv composed together and try to get them posted so you all can read the genius that is me. I also learned you can have a blog for just about anything in the world. It does not matter if you just had a different idea just post it and let it out there. Get a reader to read over your blogs to maybe see if you made any kind of mistakes. (Like i know i will.)

If anyone knows me or the people that read my blog can tell that i am a avid car lover and a classic lover. But, no only do I love classic cars I do love a old classic truck from time to time. If i haven't made clear before I am currently a Mass Comm major t the University of Oklahoma. And seeing good cars here is quite a treat to me.
I was walking across the parking lot one day when I saw this nice little beauty parked out there. If anyone has some information about this truck or knows the owner. Please let me know. Id love to write more about it.
