WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR

Well, as most of my readers will know. I am a broke college student. And finding things to do that are cheap is very hard to find. Well this weekend i got off and there is a Auto Show in OKC Fairgrounds that I wanted to go too. Like most college students i live cheap. And tickets re pulling 10 bucks a pop. Well just so happens my bud Autumn Circle just had a few tickets to give me. Check her out at www.autumnsmusicalmusings@blogspot.com. Thanks to her you will see me get a lot of material to write about after this weekend!

TRUCKS TRUCKS AND MORE TRUCKS...

The American Pickup.
Now, before I start this I'm talking about full size trucks.
Not the Chevy El Comino
.
Or the ford Ranchero.

Or Pontiac's bombshell the G8 ST.
I'll get to these classics on another post.

I'm strictly talking about the Chevy Silverado 1500.
The Ford F150.
And the Ram 1500. (Yeah they separated from Dodge, now they are their own brand.)
The original American trio.
Now for the whole start of the pickup truck we can give the award to Mr. Henry Ford.
The founder of Ford Motor Company and the inventor of the assembly line.
Because of this invention he could mass produce cars at a good accelerated rate plus offering them at a more reasonable price.
But, that's a story for another post.
Lets get into his invention.
The Ford Model-T.
This vehicle debuted in 1925.
It was a simple design.
And when i say simple, it was basically it had a cab, a bed, four wheels a steering wheel, transmission, and motor.
Of course it had breaks and headlights.
But lets remember it didn't have the luxury that we take advantage of that we have today.
No heat, no a/c.
Sounds just miserable.
But, unlike today, people were tough.
But, as time went on improvements were made.
Competition started to stack up.
Hudson, Dodge and Chevy started arising from the mists.
As the years went by the automotive companies started making adjustments to their vehicles.
We started getting past the straight 6 motors and off the carbanation and into fuel injections and other many differnt types and designed of fuel injections in the late 1980's.

A Journey Northbound, Homebound

This past weekend I went home to do a interview for one of my classes.
Blackwell, Oklahoma.
You just don't realize how well you are known till you leave your home town for a little while.
I went to two separate bars around my place of growing up and was surprised.
I sat down at the bar and ordered a beer.
Of course the people around the bar would look at me as not a regular and a new face.
For when I left my home town i didn't look like how i look now.
A drunk sitting at the bar looks at me and says, "You're not from around here are you?"
I said, "Well, I grew up here." He looked at me like he just discovered the city of Atlantis. And asked for my name.
I told him my name and he started naming off all my family members and what all they are doing now. Then the bartender knew my grandmother and asked how I was doing and what i am doing now.
It was kinda nice to just go home and have a reminder of where i come from.
Always look ahead and the past is just a memory behind you.

Dr. Kurt Hochenauer

He came to the class today and helped a lot with starting to try to get my blog out there in the public eye.
Like trying to get traffic i need to try to blog at least several times a day so i will have to stop putting off some blogs that iv composed together and try to get them posted so you all can read the genius that is me. I also learned you can have a blog for just about anything in the world. It does not matter if you just had a different idea just post it and let it out there. Get a reader to read over your blogs to maybe see if you made any kind of mistakes. (Like i know i will.)

If i haven't made clear before I am currently a Mass Comm major t the University of Oklahoma. And seeing good cars here is quite a treat to me.
I was walking across the parking lot one day when I saw this nice little beauty parked out there. If anyone has some information about this truck or knows the owner. Please let me know. Id love to write more about it.

New 2015 Mustang

Sleek, sexy, sophisticated, but yet, manly.
Words that always described the Ford Mustang.
But, like most things, where there is a up, there is a down.
And no other car in the world could have felt the intense feeling of this roller-coaster then the Mustang.

Back in 1964, America was changing. We were currently in the battle with Vietnam. the hippie movement was uprising, and Oxford University accepts their first black student.
The biggest change for the best that America discovered was a new car that ford was introducing.
The Mustang.
It wasn't the typical car of the time. It was sleek and sexy. And it just looked tough. This was the main car that the quarterback of the high school football team rolled up with. These cars sure packed a punch in those times.
As the years went by, the world kept molding into something different and new to what we have never seen before. A lot of that change was for the good.

In 1967 Ford did a complete redesign of their trophy horse.

After a lot of decision making.
The Fastback was born.
While the start of the muscle car movement was underway, Ford decided to changing their car to catch up with the competition.
The only thing they changed with the mustang was give it a sexy and aggressive face lift. It did not gain anymore power so it still lacked in that department.

In 1969, Ford made a bigger commitment to the muscle car craze. The introduced the Mach 1, Boss 302 and Boss 429. These models were a little bit heavier then their forefathers, but they packed a much bigger punch with a much bigger engine.
Ford seemed to be going down a very smooth road from here on out.
Then the 70's hit.

In 1973 the oil crisis hit. Making gas all around the country soar higher then it has ever been seen.
Lines were backed up for blocks just trying to get gas.
Ford had to think fast.
As their sales of their 302 and 429 went down because they sucked up so much gas, they had to go smaller.
but, we didn't think they would go to just plain disgusting.
. Let me introduce to you the ford mustang 2.
2 for being the second generation.
Now if you have never seen of this car or never heard of it don't feel bad.
It was kind of ford little mistake that they wanted to sweep under the rug.
Typically, today you would see a old grandma driving this type of mustang.
And that is exactly what this car is.
Produced on the line from 1974-1978 this car was much different from the earlier addition.
Its kinda like Ford hit their high school peak.
And they went to a community college working for McDonald's.
But, who can blame them.
They had the oil crisis on them. Cause you know when you're done with high school, you move out of your parents house and just try to find a way to survive.
That's exactly what Ford had to do.
And it was a brilliant idea.
Oh yeah it also came with a hatchback option.

But, I personally still hate the look of this car.
But, it does not get any better.

In 1979-1993 I think the whole company of Ford was on crack.
If you're a car lover, I'm just saying what has been on your mind for years
Still in the post apocolipic era of the fuel crisis, Ford was still competing with import cars such as Toyota and Honda.
Do not be alarmed.
What you are looking at about is in fact a ford.
And believe it or not.
Yes, it is a mustang.
Words cannot express this
To think, this car was competing with a Mazda.
This is what happens when we like the Japanese design a American car.
I guess this is their way of getting us back for WW2.
But, in 1986 I guess the designers pitted us and came out with a redesign.
Just a face lift on the front headlights.
And yes it is still called a Ford Mustang at this time if you were wondering.
Oh and this also came with a hatchback option.

Now the next Generation of Ford will be more familiar to people that are closer to my age.
You see every valley girl drive it around, because they lack imagination, and they saw this car everywhere.
And when i say everywhere, I mean this car was everywhere.
The redesign made the Mustang look like a one of a kind.
It made it look like a sports car.
Which in fact after all this time, that's what the mustang turned into.
We went from being a loud, tough muscle car.
To a zippin fast sports car that every high school cheerleader had.
Its like a man that worked in the coal mines all his life, pursues his life as a dancer.
This, mostly plastic, bar was on the lines till 2004.
Finally, Ford started getting smart.

We all remember the day that we saw our first 2005 Ford mustang.
I was in Middle School, walking to my sisters house and one drove by.
I was in shock of what just happened.
It was like wild Bronco was whipped why past me.
(Pun intended)
Completely redesigned.
Pulling out the old books and relearning what out forefather taught us.
Ford wen through their stages.
High School, Community College, University, Middle Aged.
Now, we are in the prime time again of the mustang.
It had to find itself to be where its at now.
Now the Ford Mustang is a older gentleman, sitting in a classy bar, drinking a bottle of 14 year old Jameson.
I imagine if the Ford Mustang was a person at that time it would of looked a lot like this.
Recently Ford just released their newest design of their prized baby.
Personally i dont think they needed to redesign.
But, like previous Mustangs, it was getting tiresome seeing the same car that everyone had.
This car, is like if James Bond and Liam Neeson had sex and had a baby.
It would be something like this.
They got the whole design idea from the Aston Martin Vanquish.
No, I didn't just flip the photo around.
That is in fact a completely different car.
So now America has a British car on its shores.
I guess its not as bad as it looking like a Japanese car.
